Ghana: Tema Port expansion sponsors visit project site

News // March 2, 2017

Executives from APM Terminals and Bolloré Transport & Logistics, the sponsors of the Tema Port expansion project, have toured the existing Meridian Port Services Terminal (MPS) inside Tema Port and the adjacent port expansion project site.

Reviewing the operations of the MPS Container Terminal, the executive delegation toured the existing facilities where they commended the management of MPS for the excellent operational performance and were impressed about Tema Port’s steady volume growth and the throughput volume handled for the month despite February being a shorter month.

The executive delegation subsequently assured the CEO and management team of MPS of their respective shareholders continued support in investing in both human resources and technology to boost the terminal’s operational levels.

On the tour of the port expansion works, the team expressed satisfaction with the progress of work thus far. The construction of the 3.85km quay is well under way with drilling drilling, blasting and dredging taking place.

The expansion works, which began in October 2016, are expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2019.
