US: Leland Township plans acquisition of dredgerProject Updates // February 16, 2017
The Record Eagle newspaper reports that Leland Township officials have cleared the way for the acquisition of a dredge to open sand-choked Leland Harbour.
Township board members unanimously approved the purchase of a US$500,000 dredge with more than US$200,000 collected through donations and additional contributions. The dredge will allow officials to clear the channel that currently blocks boats from coming or going.
A tight budget and a lack of federal assistance to pay a contractor to complete the dredging have prevented officials from dredging the harbour so far.
