Corps provides update on Mianus River dredging effort

Contracts & Tenders // January 9, 2017

The US Army Corps of Engineers has provided an update on a dredging project on the Mianus River.

The town of Greenwich requested maintenance dredging of the 6ft federal channel. Environmental approvals have been obtained. A contract was advertised for bids, bids were opened on 30 August 2016 and the contract was awarded 14 September 2016 to Coastline Consulting and Development of Branford, Connecticut for US$2,248,250.

Dredging started on 23 October 2016. Approximately 50,000 cubic yards of sediment will be mechanically dredged from the river, and placed about eight miles away at the Western Long Island Sound Disposal Site.

The dredge window, due to environmental conditions, is 1 October 2016 to 31 January 2017.

The state of Connecticut is the sponsor for the project.
